Perfectly Popped Corn
Ingredients:
- 1 bag or can of corn kernels. It should say that it is suitable for pop corn!
- Sprinkles of either salt, or sugar (or sugar alternatives) or both!
- Oil
Directions:
- Heat 3 Tbsp. of oil into a thick, deep set pan. You can use corn oil, vegetable oil, olive oil or flavoured oil (if you can find one you think will be palatable).
- Drop one kernel into the pan. When it pops, move to step no. 3.
- Add a layer of corn to the pan making sure that it is literally one layer thick. If you add too much you’ll end up burning it.
- Cover the pan with a lid and flip the pan up and down so that the mixture has space to move around.
- Listen until all the kernels have stopped popping. There should be at least a 2 second delay in between.
- Transfer to a big bowl.
- Sprinkle with either salt or sugar. I sometimes use equal to watch the waistline or; Heat up a generous knob of butter in a pan. You can either pour that straight over the popcorn or you can go one step further and melt down some sugar in it too. It’s really up to you!
